WELCOME to 'TRAVELLING
DAYS'
(or, perhaps, for those who live 'twixt the
Pacific and Atlantic oceans, 'Traveling Days'
or even 'Travelin' Days'!
!).
'Travelling Days' is a
series of websites with reminiscences of
places, people and occasions which have
featured in the life of the sites' author who
is presently retired and living in Perth,
Western Australia.
The memoirs include
descriptions, biographies, photographs and
autographs. Links to many of the sites in the
Colin Day 'Travelling Days' website series may
be found in the right-hand column or in the
thumb-nail index below and in subsequent
pages.

Many of the pictures
have been taken during travels to various parts
of the world; an index to countries and some of
the places visited is shown on the right.
Other sites include details of
the 1940s and 50s during WWII as experienced by
the author then living in Bedford, England. In
particular there are pictures and descriptions
of personatities and events connected with
Bedford School, the evacuation from Bristol to
Bedford of several sections of the British
Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Symphony and BBC
Theatre Orchestras, BBC Singers and the BBC
Religious Department), and Glen Miller and the
Band of the AEF and their appearance at the
Granada Cinema in Bedford.
Photographs dating from the time
of the author's National Service in the Royal
Army Educational Corps include the Walker Lines
in Bodmin, Cornwall, the Helston Floral Day
celebrations and a visit by the BBC Symphony
Orchestra to Truro Cathedral.

Personalities of the 1940s and 50s include
Trevor Huddlestone, Sir William Dobbie, Dwight
D. Eisenhower, the conductors Sir Adrian Boult,
Basil Cameron and Anthony Collins,
instrumentalists Glenn Miller, Harry Mortimer,
Henry Holst and George Thalben-Ball, the author
A.L. Rowse, and pianists Moura Lympany, Myra
Hess, and Eileen Joyce - and many, many others
!
Other sites in the Travelling
Days series include Bletchley Park (the story
of 'Enigma' and 'Ultra' - the decrypting of
German codes during WWII), the 'London Eye'
millennium observation wheel on the South Bank
affording views over London, descriptions and
photos of a tour of the Western States of
America: California (including Disneyland,
Death Valley, Yosemite, San Francisco,
Hollywood, Big Sur), Utah (including Monument
Valley, Salt Lake City, Arches National Park),
Nevada, Arizona ( with Grand Canyon and
Tombstone), Idaho (including Sun Valley),
Montana, Oregon and Washington. An outback tour
of the Kimberley region of Western Australia
forms the basis of the Kimberley Outback site.
Places visited in the Kimberley include the
Bungle Bungles, Geikie Gorge, Broome, Derby and
the Ord River.

lights, Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gardens,
Eurostar) and South Devon. Also a tour of the
South East Coastal region of New South Wales in
