- The Ord River: Part 2 -

......A journey by boat from below the Argyle Dam down river to Kununurra is a highlight of any visit to the East Kimberley. The water level of this tortuous section of the Ord River is maintained at the same level throughout the year, enabling the thick vegetation to grow down to the water's edge and on the many sandbars.

DAY TOURS are organised by Triple J Tours in Kununurra which include a coach drive to the Durack homestead, lunch at Lake Argyle Village and the river trip using planing hull boats which can reach 50km per hour on the open stretches of river. Afternoon tea provided in a small park situated in a cove halfway between the Ord Dam and the home base make a welcome break before returning to Kununurra at dusk.
