Timber is used extensively in house construction in
this part of the world. Logs from trees felled in the
local forests are taken to the sawmill by road or
floated down rivers or across lakes. (Floating logs can
be seen in the top two pictures on this page) The
photos were taken near Missoula and Eureka (in Montana)
and, just across the Canadian border, near Cranbrook in
British Columbia.
