LAKE McDONALD shown on this page may be approached via the western end of the 'Sun Road' from West Glacier. At the time these photos were taken (late May) the remainder of the road from the lake to St Mary was closed due to deep snowdrifts and ice.
The lake is situated within the Glacier National Park close to the Canadian border. The 50 mile long 'Sun Road' traverses the park and is considered by many to be one of the most scenic routes in the world.
