The Ahwahnee Hotel at the eastern end of Yosemite Village was designed by Gilbert Underwood and built in 1927. It is constructed of granite boulders and timber which provides a rustic charm which allows the building to blend well with its natural environment. The views from the rooms are magnificent (right)
.......and the surrounding area provides space for quiet relaxation. (below).

The Yosemite Falls are situated on the northern rim of the valley and are comprised of two sections with a combined height of almost 2500 feet (750 metres). The melting winter snows provide the most spectacular views in May, but within a few months the flow may dry up completely. The pictures on these pages were taken in April.
