|
|||||
Animal life in the Grand Canyon region includes about 90 species of mammals, 30 species of fish, 300 species of birds, 60 species of reptiles and amphibians and 1,500 ifferent flowering plants. During the growing season, both rims and canyon slopes are covered with a great variety of wildflowers. Native American communities including the Hualapai, Havasupai, Hopi, Kaibab-Paiute and Navajo tribes live around Grand Canyon. They continue to practise their ancient traditions and cultures which have long been associated with the exquisite yet functional crafts that reflect their close ties with nature. Native artworks have been sold to visitors and the outside world since the 1880s. |
